Oh, my dolls! How was your week? Mine consisted of beautiful weather, lots of game-playing (my mom and I are fierce competitors in a summer Yahtzee marathon tournament!) and of course some shopping in which I bought more magazines than I need, as usual. Here's to an awesome weekend, and here's to these awesome finds the Web had to offer this week!

The groom from the wedding video went to my college! I love it :)
You are so good at this. Write a book. We need entertainers like you.
this looks like a cup of jo post, is that on purpose?
Hi Kate -- I've always loved the links Jo posts on Fridays and decided to do one of my own. Her blog is awesome!
Feelin' sexy? Hop over to my blog - tagged ya in something!
this has been a great week!! I hope you have a great weekend! :) enjoy!
Thanks huNNy X:-)
I stumbled across your blog a while ago, but haven't commented yet. I can't remember how I found your blog, but I read your column in the Chronicle every week. I was a few years ahead of you in school, and actually I remember that your family lived in University Village at the same time as my mom, brother and I. Our buildings shared a courtyard.
Anyway, I love your blog. You have a great perspective that you don't see everywhere. I want to take the things I learn from this blog and incorporate them into how I am raising my boys (who are 2-almost-3 and 10 months).
So, even if I don't get the chance to comment very often, I'll be reading.
Wow: That's quite a list! Thanks!
And thank you for the ad opportunity!
Fabulous roundup! Those studded chucks are adorable, and that cake looks delicious :)
Hi Melissa,
I just discovered your blog this week and can't stop reading. I have forwarded the link to friends and I just posted a short item about it on my blog telling people to go read it. I put your banner in the post, too - I hope you don't mind. :)
Cheers,
Bella
A long and innovative list!
i had to double check which blog i was on for a second...this post looks very much like Joanna's Cup of Jo. She even calls us all "dolls" ...which i love, but this caught me by surprise...
i agree that joanna's fridays posts are amazing, which is why she is widely known for them... the challenge of blogging in this limited format is to take something that's good and make it your own.
you have an amazing opportunity here. change it up with your own style! we want to hear your voice!
xo
Tina
Yeah, even your blog layout is like cup of jo. That's a little weird?
Hi Tina and Kate -- I've tried a few different layouts and decided I like the simpleness of the soft colors. I'm in no way trying to copy Jo's blog...I'm simply passing along some cool links. Jo's blog is awesome and in a league of its own, so I would never try to take anything away from that. I respect her very much as a person and as a blogger.
Hope that clears things up.
Hi Melissa,
Loved your list and thanks for including me...wowza! I adore you and your blog and it made my heart sing that you thought my Christmas in July was worthy!
I got so many emails after my post about you. One in particular was from one of my dear blog pals who works with high school girls and she showed some of them your blog. She wanted them to know what "real" beauty is. Isn't that awesome?!
Keep it coming, I simply can't get enough!!!
xoxo
Karyn
Hi Karyn -- tell your friend HI for me and I'm glad she was able to use some of my insights. One of my goals is to reach out to young girls -- that's why I've always wanted to work for Seventeen magazine. They need more self-esteem than we know!
Why, thank you for the lovely shots of home!!! And what a "newsy"post!!!
m ^..^
hey melissa!
love that photo :D
thank you for the book recommendations on my blog (and the kind words). i've seen no country for old men but maybe i'll try out the book!
Hello there. I would just like to say that your blog is amazing (:
I just found it a few days ago and have already racked up more than 24 hours sitting and reading all your past posts up to 3 in the morning (thank goodness it's summer vacation). They are so true and inspiring. I just wanted to let you know that, though I'm sure you already do. But thanks for sharing all your great stuff. It really makes realize that you're not alone in this kind of search-for-love thing.
sarah -- you're so sweet! thanks!
I love this picture! Thanks for all of the awsome links. I really enjoy reading your blog!
