Friends, I'm not sure why, but the fall always reminds me of my childhood. The combination of the smell of burning leaves and trips to apple orchards (we just went yesterday, actually) -- it all takes me back to those carefree years. So, now that it's October, I thought it would be fun to make this week all about childhood -- reminiscing about favorite books, toys, movies, favorite memories and traditions...everything that made those childhood years so magical.First up: Childhood photos. My parents were notorious for taking lots of photos; they seemed to always have a camera on hand, and never missed an opportunity to capture every moment, no matter how minor said moment seemed at the time. Every now and then, it's fun to look through those photos -- who doesn't love to relive the '80s too?
Did your parents take a lot of family photos when you were little? Did you like the camera? Were you a ham? Or did you hide like my sister?

Popples!!! I love those! Wish I still had mine. We went to the apple orchard on Saturday. We went to Kuiper's Family Farm. That's the first time I've ever gone apple picking, it was fun.
And I hid from the camera. We've never been photo people unfortunately. I'm trying to take more pictures myself. I realize how important that is now.
Oh man, I hate looking at photos from my youth. I have never shown my husband any of them. I hated the camera!
Love that one of you and Mickey. So sweet!
the smell of autumn takes me back to my childhood as well! I'm not really sure why though because I don't really have memories of apple orchards or burning leaves since I grew up in Chicago... oh well, nice to have a pseudo-nostalgic feeling about this season regardless = )
By the way Melissa, that last photo is absolutely precious! I had the same hair color as you growing up!

Adorable!! Melissa you look like you were such a happy little camper :)
Popples!! If you want to kill an hour or twelve, look up 80's toys commercials on You Tube. Good stuff, good stuff.
Everyone in my family hates having their pictures taken so we don't have a lot of photos.
so cute! i love the ones with you wearing glasses
Love the old-school photos. Is that Rainbow-Brite? I think I had the same doll!
look at you crazy kid making a mess! The last picture is my favorite - it's so adorable! Thanks for sharing with us :)
What cute photographs!
These are so cute!! I love your glasses in the last photo, such a trendy cute color.

Those are so sweet! Look at you :) I absolutely adore the last two.
Sadly, there are not many photos of me as a child. I was #4... and the camera phase was long over before I arrived :(
ps. I did a post yesterday called "Hello October" and I couldn't quite put my finger on why I love this season so much, but I'm pretty sure your post hit it right on the nose.
It reminds me of my childhood too.
I remember standing outside my school sitting the leaves waiting for my parents to pick me up. Making scarecrows, hot chocolate, going to the apple orchard, etc.
Aw, you were adorable! I love how happy you look with the Popples!
And the picture after that is beautiful, I love the colors!
My parents used to take pictures a lot too, but it ended in my teens and I think there are years in which I wasn't on a single picture haha! So I'm trying to change that because I do want to be able to look back on this time as well.
Yay for red hair, meesch! :)
Hilary, definitely go to an apple orchard...so much fun!
i think it is rainbow brite! And yay for popples!! In fact, all '80s toys were awesome!
Olivia, my parents were sort of the same way once my sister was born. They weren't as obsessive with the picture-taking as they used to be. :)
p.s. thanks, too, for all these kind comments!
I'm just dying from all the cuteness thanks for sharing :) We went to an apple orchard yesterday, it was so much fun and I've been baking with apples like crazy all day- I love fall!
Sooo cute! :) I had Popples too, I lost it to the parking area and i was sad very for very long time.
My parents took a lot of pics of me and my sister, I'm glad of that.
Awww, these are so cute. I had the same rainbow brite doll. :)
I loved the camera when I was a kid! My childhood photos always show how happy I was every day. Everything has gotten better when my younger sister joined me in those photos, hehe. :D
