Friends, did I ever tell you about the affectionate name my sister and I bestowed upon my right wrist years ago? I know, you're probably thinking something along the lines of, "Who in their right minds names their wrists?"My sister and me, naturally. Truthfully, the name just sort of fell into place. Besides an inability to swallow food, another side effect of my spine growing up into my brain stem was my right wrist suddenly drooping. So the only logical name? The Swan. If I hold up my wrist, it literally looks like a swan.
And this swan-like hand? It's not perfect. Yes, it has its flaws. Yes, it has its shortcomings. And yes, it would probably pale in comparison when held up to other wrists, but maybe those are all the exact reasons it's become one of my favorite body parts.
Maybe, too, it's why my freckles, oddly shaped nose and surgical scars are also my favorite parts about my body. They're imperfect, but when you think about it, that's what makes them real.
So, friends, what about you? What supposed imperfections are perfect to you? Your feet? Your ears? That beauty mark on your arm? What makes you perfectly imperfect? xoxo[Photos via We Heart It]

Aww..I always love your posts. I love my thin wrists too. They are soo tiny and boney and awkward but I've been told it's one of my most feminine features... =)
I have a scar on my right wrist from a burn I got while cooking. But this is why I love that scar: I burned my wrist while my now-husband, then-boyfriend and I were cooking dinner together. I now tell him that he's stuck with me for life. If we should ever leave each other, I will be forced to get a tattoo in the burn's place! It's funny to me that a scar on my body can actually bring a smile to my face, but this one really does! How strange!

Goodness! I love this post! I have so many imperfections. I was just going to blog about this topic, also. I think my biggest one is my small butt. It's so small, but firm. But since it's so small I can fit smaller sized pants. That's always nice!
My button shaped nose and tiny hands (I'm a Little person). My husband (not LP) and I both love how cozily my hand fits into his.
By the way, do you have any comments or thoughts about Rosie O'Donell's comments on LPs? (I understand that you are quite short too but I don't know if you have ever identified with the LP community. (We're awesome by the way.)

I have a scar on my left pointer finger from a (really) bad cooking accident- I actually was really lucky I didn't lose part of my finger. It sucked to go through, but now when I'm feeling really overwhelmed and like everything is going wrong I look at the scar to remind myself that even things that seem and feel awful at the time can have an OK ending.
I have two favorites -- a huge freckle on my lip, and another in the corner of my mouth. I don't know how many times someone has said "You have chocolate on your face." Embarrassing at times, but I've grown to appreciate their uniqueness.
I have three -
A crazily strong cowlick at my forehead which I hated until someone told me my hair looked like The Little Mermaid.
Spots on my chin I was embarassed about and thought were weird until someone told me they liked my dimples. Who knew!
My voice which has a slight lisp that I used to really hate but now wouldn't change at all.
i refused to get braces when i was younger because i loved my unique smile and the gap between my teeth...still love the gap even though it's getting a lot smaller. i have oddly small knee caps but i love how tiny they are! i have a couple scars from being young and wild, and now i like having them as reminders of my past...sounds cliche but i love them!
I've always felt like I didn't have prominent enough hips so I don't have that hour glass shape. But luckily this attribute has made me excellent at hide-and-seek because I can fit in smaller places!
My freckles and my weirdly small feet! :) This was the sweetest post. I know you have faced a lot in your lifetime but your cheerful disposition always seems to win in the end. :)
i'm with lemanie, my wrists are super bony and tiny and i love it! it looks really feminine to me haha
I have a really flat nose that I used to really hate but now I love it b/c of the way it moves when I smile. Thanks for celebrating perfect imperfections.
well, my favorite imperfect body part is my nose. It got this noticeable bridge that I have inherited from my father. I was teased before because of my nose, but nowadays, my nose is what I consider my asset. LOL. Another is my large feet. I'm only 5'2 but my foot size is 9 or 10. :( Most of the time, it is a trouble looking for shoes. :) I love this post, there is a great discussion going on..
If these parts were perfect, would they not be real? This sounds like people talking about "real America.". It's all real.
People who don't like me say I have big teeth. People who do like me say I have a big smile. I love that.
what a wonderful post. my favorite imperfect body part is definitely all the scars I have. I have seven. I am proud of them all.

First Anon -- I haven''t see the video, but will take a look. Yay for small hands -- mine have always been small, but i've learned to love them!
Aww, thanks so much, Hannah -- how sweet! xoxo
And I looooove that we're all embracing our scars!! Let's all wear them proudly!
I have a little lisp and I think it is so funny when people finally notice it-- it is pretty subtle, but once they notice it they wonder how they never did before :)
I also have 3 scars on my right cheek that I got from a dog bite when I was 3-- over time they became less noticeable, but as I have gotten into my mid 20's they are making a come back-- I am proud of my battle wounds. :)
AND both of my pinky toes have been broken several times (I was a gymnast) and to heal a broken toe-- you just tape it to the other toes and let time do its thing.. so both pinky toes have a huge slant-- its like they are always cuddling with toe next to it.. and I think that's kinda cute-- even if i have weird feet now.
ps. I just love all your post! you're the best.
:)
Great post! You're so open an frankly, hilarious. I have two big toes that do some strange things. They both go into the first toe (I think they call it "hammer toe") and make wearing shoes often very uncomfortable. Also, forget what my feet look like. I honestly have huge bunions and corns. Who has corns???? I don't think I'll ever get the surgery to correct the bones in my toes, but probably need to resign to stop caring about it!
