Love letter from Johnny Cash

Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash had one of those love affairs for the ages, didn't they? The kind that make you think, "I want a love like that." After they both died in 2003 (just four months apart!), their only son, John Carter Cash, began sifting through photos, letters and other family treasures from his pack-rat parents. The collection became House of Cash, a family scrapbook of memories. My favorite find? The above letter, written by Johnny to June, which reads...

Hey June,

That's really nice June. You've got a way with words and a way with me as well. The fire and excitement may be gone now that we don't go out there and sing them anymore, but the ring of fire still burns around you and I, keeping our love hotter than a pepper sprout.

Love John

"Dad never ceased to remind my mother of his love for her," says John Carter. How romantic is that? I picture them somewhere together right now singing to each other, don't you? xoxo

  7. Lovely! I always said to myself that I wanted to have a love that could inspire me to write the most beautiful love story book -which I could easily sell as a screenplay and could turn into a big opening weekend! ;) xoxo

  8. LOVE Johnny Cash & so does my husband-you can just see from the way he looks at her in the pictures how much he adored her. Walk the Line is actually me and my husband's 'song'...♥

  9. love this. my family has the letters my great grandma and grandpa sent back and forth to each other when he was in alaska engineering the alaskan pipeline. he was the perfect gentleman and she was the perfect lady, i was born after they passed away but i see them as the perfect example of love and though we've never physically met, i feel them with me on a daily basis. love like that is something you never forget.

  10. This made my day. What a beautiful letter and inspiring romance.

  13. April -- how neat to have those letters, especially since you didn't know your great grandparents when they were alive. Now you can get to know them through their letters!

  14. exactly, i've learned that my great grandpa puts up with no nonsense after reading his letters complaining about how rude the phone operator was or how unprofessional the landlord was when he had relocated temporarily for a new job, it's so funny cause my mom and i are the exact same way!

Your lovely comments make my day so much sweeter! Thanks for stopping by and saying hello!
